Below are some commonly asked questions about henna application and aftercare of your design.
For a good stain it is vital to keep the henna paste on for as long as possible. You should keep the henna on for at least 4-8 hours and if possible try to keep it on over night.
Once the henna is dry it will have a slightly different appearance and over the next few hours will begin to flake off.
Once the 4-8 hours (or overnight) have passed then scrape off the paste. Do not wash the paste off. Washing the paste off with water can prevent from staining properly. If it begins flaking off sooner that is alright, but do not flake it off yourself until the recommended time has passed.
Once the henna paste has fallen off or removed the stain will be a light orange color. During the next 48 hours the stain will become darker.
On average, a henna design will stay on your skin from 7-10 days.
Every part of your body will stain but your hands and feet will get the darkest stain.
Yes, heat does help get a darker stain. Some things you can try are using a blow dryer or boiling water and allowing the steam to reach the henna design. Even when the henna is removed any sort of heat exposure will help to get a deeper color.
Your henna stain (design) will initially be a light orange color. The color will deepen from the time of paste removal to upto 72 hours. The final color can range anywhere from a deep red to a deep brown depending on the individual.
It would be advised to have your waxing/shaving done 2 days before having your henna applied. If done after henna application it could interere with the color progression.
